Dermot Murnaghan is a presenter and broadcaster with a career that has spanned over 4 decades, hosting such iconic shows as ITV’s News At Ten and BBC Breakfast. He has also fronted the coverage on Channel 4 News and CNBC Europe. For the past 15 years he has been one of the lead anchors on Sky News, where among other prominent roles he fronted Murnaghan on Sunday, a weekly show interviewing some of the biggest names in politics.
During his illustrious career Dermot has broken some of the world’s biggest news stories such as the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and while at the BBC was responsible for announcing the death of Princess Diana to the nation.
As well as covering the news, Dermot also presented the BBC quiz show Eggheads between 2003 and 2014. His other credits include travel programmes such as Wish you Were Here…? (ITV) and Holiday (BBC1).
In 2000 Dermot won the prestigious Newscaster of the Year award from the Television & Radio Industries Club (TRIC) - an award given for 'maintaining a consistent standard above all others'. He also won the 1999 Royal Television Society’s Interviewer of The Year Award for his interview with Peter Mandelson, which resulted in his resignation from the Cabinet.
Most importantly, he is an Arsenal fan.
